description: FEMA flood zone boundaries in the City of Loveland, Colorado. The geographic extent of this layer is primarily associated with the floodplain of the Big Thompson River. The new floodplain mapping is considered “preliminary” by FEMA, but is already being used for regulatory purposes by both the City of Loveland and Larimer County as the best available data. FEMA is expected to adopt the new mapping as “effective” in the spring of 2023.
licenseInfo:

Uses of Data: This feature class can be used for general depictions of the location of the floodplain in and around Loveland, Colorado. This data is used to set flags in the City’s HTE building permit system that indicate that a given address may possibly be in the floodplain and, therefore, needs to be further evaluated for a determination. Inappropriate Uses of Data: The actual determination of whether or not a property is within the floodplain is an administrative matter for the City’s Floodplain Administrator within the Public Works Department. This data is not to be used to determine if a property is in or out of the floodplain.
